The great meditation garden of Sumala was no place for Ravnica’s rising crime wave, and he would keep it that way.
Tasked with creating an illustration of a sentry standing guard at the entry to a sacred garden, images of orientalist period paintings immediately came to mind. Inspired by painters like Gerome, Alma Tadema, and Charlemont, I wanted to capture a similarly regal feeling for our steadfast guard.
